XIII MICYCF “Moscow Sounds” is held according to federal and inter-departmental programs "Children of Russia", "Gifted Children", city complex purpose oriented complex programs “Children of Moscow sing” and "The Culture of Moscow".

The participants of the festival are children's and youth choirs, vocal-choir and folk ensembles.

MCYICF "Moscow Sound" is held once in two years. The MICYCF "Moscow Sounds" is initiated by Model Art Collective Center of creative development and musical aesthetic education «Radost’», the leading institution of Moscow in the sphere of vocal-choir genre and popular musical aesthetic education.

Twelve previous festivals (November 1990, April 1992, February and March 1994, April 1996, April 1998, March and April 2000, April and May 2002, April and May 2004, April and May 2006, April and May 2008, April and May 2010, April and May 2012) were a great success. The participants represented the USA, Japan, Italy, Germany, France, Austria, Poland, Bulgaria, China, Hong-Kong, Bahama Islands, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, Byelorussia, Moldova, Georgia, Armenia, Thailand, Serbia and some other countries and a great number of Russian towns.

Now the festival “Moscow Sounds” is a first-rate youth choir forum, well-known far from Russia. Its program includes solo and gala-concerts of the choirs - participants in the best concert halls of Moscow, creative meetings, demonstrative lessons and master-classes, science and practice conferences on the problems of Children and Youth choir development and the elaboration of young singing voices.

Within the bounds of festival there are following events:

•          the International competition of Children's and Youth choirs and vocal-choir ensembles (ICCYC-2014);

•          the International Competition of Children's and Youth Choirs and Choir ensembles for the Best performance of Russian and West-European spiritual music (ICSM-2014);

•          the International Competition of Children's and Youth folk ensembles (ICYFE-2014);

•          International Conductors’ Competition.

Famous Russian and foreign cultural and art workers, composers and prominent choir conductors are invited as members of the jury.

In addition, visiting of the famous exhibitions, museums, theatres, excursions, and some other arrangements, allowing looking through the history, culture and arts of Russia, its memorials, architecture and sights of the capital are arranged for the participants.

The founders of the XIII MICYCF "Moscow Sounds" consider the conducting of the Festival in Russia corresponding with the purposes and tasks proclaimed by UN organization in the Appeal to the World Concord. They are confident that the conducting of the festival will help the enrichment of the multinational Russian culture on the basis of equality and mutual respect for the cultural traditions of all the countries and nations of the world.

The Organization Committee of the Moscow International Children's and Youth Choir Festival "Moscow Sounds" invites children's and youth choirs, vocal-choir and folk ensembles to apply for the XIII Festival and hopes that the festival will turn into a wonderful Music, Peace and Friendship celebration once again.

 

1. Aims and tasks of the Festival

  • to popularize the children's and youth choir creative work;
  • to support the functioning children and youth creative collectives, presenting their success at international level;
  • To bring up children and youth to have tolerance and respective attitude to national cultures through forming social skill of friendliness and equitable relations;
  • to study and generalize the advanced experience in the sphere of choir performance, to make the conditions for the fruitful creative contacts between the specialists in the sphere of children's and youth musical education;
  • to help the revival of Russian national singing traditions, popularization of Russian artistic values of choir culture, arts and traditions;
  • To popularize culture, arts and creation of nations of Russia in the bound of international collaboration.
  • To help world collaboration targeted to expose variety of cultural and national traditions of different countries.
  • to render methodical and practical help to the specialists, working with children and youth in the academic choir genre and in the sphere of folkloric musical culture.

Competitive auditions in the bounds of the festival:

  • Chamber hall of Moscow International House of music;
  • the Rachmaninoff Hall of Moscow State Conservatory;
  • Evangelical-Lutheran Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul;
  • Concert Hall of Russian Academy of Music named after the Gnesins.

Friendship concerts of choirs-participants of the festival in different concert halls of Moscow.

 

30 April 2014

5 pm Gala-concert of choirs-participants of the festival (the Hall of Church Councils in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior)

Competitive auditions in the bounds of the festival:

2 pm – Gala-concert, devoted to Closing of the festival (Great hall of Moscow State Conservatory)

5 pm – Final conference with the participation of directors of choirs-participants of the festival – summarizing, awarding (The concert hall of Center of creative development and musical aesthetic education “Radost’”)

 

3. Participation in the festival

 

3.1. 1.  Competitions are open for children’s and youth amateur choirs of academic and folkloric style of performance.

 

3.2. 2.  Accommodation, meals for participants of the festival, transfer, cultural program is arranged in charge of a choir-participant (see item 10) or on terms of cultural exchange with one of Moscow children’s or youth choir.

 

3.3. 3.  A choir may take part in several competitive categories.

 

3.4. Registration fee for participating in the competition is:

  • For foreign choir-participant – 100 EURO,
  • For a choir from Russia – 3000 RUR.

 

3.5. 5.  Registration of choirs for participating in XIII Moscow International children’s & youth choir festival “Moscow Sounds” is open until 1 February 2014.

 

3.6. 6.  Organization committee reserves all copyright for video-, audio, photo shooting, CD recording, broadcasting of competitive auditions, festival concerts on TV and radio.

 

3.7. Organization committee MICYCF 2014 accomplishes:

  • Arrangement of competitive auditions, concerts, master-classes, meetings – in charge of Organization committee.
  • Arrangement of a conference on festival results meetings – in charge of Organization committee.
  • Arrangement of advertising-methodical support (announcements, leaflets, invitations, booklets etc.) meetings – in charge of Organization committee.
  • Communicatory support in mass media – in charge of Organization committee.

 

3.8. A request for participation confirms that a choir is agree with terms of XIII Moscow International children’s and youth choir festival “Moscow sounds”.

 

3.9. In order to take part in gala concerts choirs from Russian Federation should know the following compositions for collective performance:

8. G. Gancheva, lirics by M. Kudrina «Rite victory»

4. In the bounds of MICYCF 2014 Moscow International competition of Children's and Youth choirs and vocal-choir ensembles (MICCYC-2014)

 

4.1. MICCYC 2014 is held by following age categories:

CATEGORY А – children’s choirs and ensembles, up to 18 years.

CATEGORY В – boys’ choirs and ensembles (before the voice breaking).

CATEGORY С – Youth male / female choirs or ensembles:

      - age limit 21,

      - age limit 28,

CATEGORY D – Mixed youth choirs or ensembles, for age limits - see category C.

4.2. The minimum number of choir singers is 20, the maximum is unlimited. The number of members of vocal-choir ensemble ranges from 12 to 19.

 

4.3. Every choir-participant performs a program consisting of no more than 4 compositions for up to 12 minutes of pure singing time. A program should consist of:

One of compositions should represent country of the participant.

Not less than 50% of the competition program should be performed a cappella.

 

5. The International Competition of Children's and Youth Choirs and Choir ensembles for the Best performance of Russian and West-European spiritual music (ICSM-2014).  

 

5.1. MICSM 2014 is held by the same age categories as MICCYC 2014.

 

5.2. Numerical strength of choirs and ensembles is the same.

 

5.3. Russian choirs-participants may additionally take part in the competition for the best performance of West-European spiritual music only after auditions in the competition for the best performance of Russian spiritual music.

 

5.4. Each of two competition auditions is a performance of a program not more than 7 minutes of pure singing time.

 

6. In the bounds of MICYCF 2014 the International Competition of Children's and Youth folk ensembles (ICYFE-2014) is held.

 

6.1. Age categories:

CATEGORY А – children’s ensembles up to 18 years.

CATEGORY В – youth ensembles up to 21 years.

CATEGORY C – youth ensembles up to 28 years.

 

6.2. We invite to participating folkloric ensembles headed to ethnographic and scenic perusal of song compositions, ensembles of folkloric songs and dances, small ensembles (more than 5 members), soloists.

 

6.3. A concert program should include 3-4 songs of different genres and be less than 12 minutes of pure singing. One or two compositions should be performed а cappella. It is desirable to include into the program 2-3 voice texture songs with elements of variation, and also performance with motion. In the program could be used folkloric games, poetic folklore, fragments of folkloric ceremonies and festivals, ceremonial compositions, genre dances (quadrille, folk dance, round dance)

 

7. In the bounds of MICYCF 2014 International conductors’ competition is held.

 

7.1. Conductors – directors of choirs-participants of International competition of children’s and youth choirs and ensembles (MICCYC 2014) participate in the competition.

 

7.2. The jury evaluates the level of conductor’s mastery during the competitive performance of his/her choir.

 

8. Evaluation of competitive performances:

 

8.1. Competitions are held as auditions in presence of jury and audience.

 

8.2. Competitive performances of choirs are evaluated by international competent jury consisted of well-known specialists with accordance to 10-points system:

  • 10 points – Gran-Prix
  • from 9 to 9,9  - laureate of I grade
  • from 8 to 8,9  - laureate of II grade
  • from 7 to 7,9  - laureate of III grade
  • from 6 to 6,9  - recipient of a prize

 

8.3. The jury reserves the right to award choirs with special prizes.

 

8.4. Decisions of the jury could not be appealed.

 

8.5. Any breakings of regulations cause loosing points during the evaluation of choir’s performance.

 

9. For participation in XIII Moscow International children’s and youth choir festival “Moscow Sounds” is necessary:

 

9.1. To fill in online request at the city program “Moscow children sing” website, indicating the program of competitive performances and two compositions for performing at gala-concert.

 

9.2. To send to festival e-mail following documents:

  • Filled in registration form #1 and registration form #2.
  • Creative characteristic of a choir.
  • Creative characteristics of directors.
  •             List of choir participants indicating age of singers.
  •             Colour photograph of a choir.
  •             Colour photograph of a choir director.
  •             Link to audio or video recording of a choir performance, made not before 2012 and posted in Internet.
  • A copy of registration fee payment receipt (an example could be downloaded here).

 

9.3. For participation in competitive auditions it is necessary to send 5 easy readable copies of scores for each performed composition (competitive program) (for choir of academic style).

 

9.4. The deadline for sending documents necessary for participation in the competition is 1 February 2014.

 

10. Accommodation, meals and cultural program

 

10.1. Organization committee by request of a choir-participant can make arrangements for accommodation, meals, transfer and cultural program. A choir-participant is in charge for all costs.

 

Category 1 – Hotel *** - 120 Euro per person (for 4 nights, breakfast included)

Included in the package:

- accommodation in twin rooms, toilet and bathroom for 2 twin rooms.

- information sources of the festival

- access to all competitive auditions and festival concerts

- guide is provided to a choir

- participation in opening and closing ceremony; for a director – participation in evening program

- visiting two museums of Moscow

* Accommodation in a single room is not available.

 

Category 2 – Hotel *** - 190 Euro per person (for 4 nights, breakfast included)

Included in the package:

- accommodation in twin rooms, toilet and bathroom in the room.

- information sources of the festival

- access to all competitive auditions and festival concerts

- guide is provided to a choir

- participation in opening and closing ceremony; for a director – participation in evening program

- visiting two museums of Moscow.

 

Category 3 – Hotel *** - 220 Euro per person (for 4 nights, breakfast included)

Included in the package:

- accommodation in single room, toilet and bathroom for 2 twin rooms.

- information sources of the festival

- access to all competitive auditions and festival concerts

- guide is provided to a choir

- participation in opening and closing ceremony; for a director – participation in evening program

- visiting two museums of Moscow

 

Category 4 – Hotel *** - 300 Euro per person (for 4 nights, breakfast included)

Included in the package:

- accommodation in single room, toilet and bathroom in the room.

- information sources of the festival

- access to all competitive auditions and festival concerts

- guide is provided to a choir

- participation in opening and closing ceremony; for a director – participation in evening program

- visiting two museums of Moscow

 

Booking is available only before 1 February 2014. If you book late, you will be offered available categories.

 

10.2. After receiving filled request (form #1) and registration form (form #2) from a choir-participant Organization committee will send the invoice (50 per cent should be paid to account of Organization committee before 1 March 2014).

 

10.3. Arrangement of lunches and dinners is available (at extra cost):

  • Lunch: 7-12 EURO (one lunch per person)
  • Dinner: 5-12 EURO (one dinner per person).

 

10.4. It is possible to arrange bus rent for large and little groups (at extra cost):

 - minimal period of bus rent (6 hours) – 180 EURO.

 

10.5. Arrangement of excursions is available (at extra cost):

- Kremlin, Patriarch’s palace, Armory Museum, Diamond fund – 45 EURO per person (guide service at extra cost – 175 EURO)

 - The Tretyakov gallery – 10 EURO per person

 - Moscow state picture gallery by Ilya Glazunov – 3 EURO per person

 - Moscow City tour for 3 hours (by bus and with a guide):

 - for a group up to 20 persons – 330 EURO

 - for a group up to persons – 480 EURO

 - Pushkin Museum of Fine arts – 10 EURO per person

 - State museum “Kuskovo manor of XVIII century” - 10 EURO per person

 - Moscow state artistic historical-architectural museum-reserve “Kolomenskoe” - 3 EURO per person

 - State museum – manor “Tsaritsyno” - 8 EURO per person

 - Memorial museum of space exploration – 5 EURO per person
